It’s no secret that we love our beer and food here at the BetterBeerBlog. We love it so much so that we host our own beer and food pairing events every few weeks or so. The one beer and food event that I would love to throw one day is a beer and cheese pairing event. I’ve done a few experiments in the past and I think that beer and cheese go very well together. Many people automatically think wine and cheese make good pairings and occasionally they do but for my money, it’s beer and cheese.
Imagine my delight when I looked in my emailbox one morning and found an email from Bob K. on behalf of Sargento, the cheese manufacturer. He sent me a link to the Artisan Cheese Center, which at the time, featured a short video showing a beer and cheese pairing. The video is of good quality and production value. In it you have Sargento Chef Guy Beardsmore as he visits Lakefront Brewery to work with Orlando Segura in showcasing a pair of beer and cheese dish pairing.
I’ll be upfront. The Artisan Cheese Center blog is just another outlet for Sargento. It’s a way for them to market their product on a grass roots level and to build a community of artisanal cheese lovers. Knowing this, I think the site is brilliant. The look and feel is a bit too polished for the amateur blogger but it fits in right with the messaging and tone they would like to convey to the public about their product. Besides, it’s the content that’s really king. They have some interesting recipes for cheese-based dishes that I wouldn’t mind trying for one of my own beer and food pairing events. Which brings me back to the video.
The video gives a little information about Sargento and about Lakefront Brewery. Coming from a marketing background, I completely understand all the talk about Sargento and Lakefront Brewery. I just wish they’d cut it a little shorter and add in either more information about beer and cheese pairing principles or maybe add in another recipe. The two recipes they do showcase are pretty good. Despite the fact that the dishes are in essence, pub food, they looked mighty tasty. I have a feeling I will be trying the stuffed cheeseburger sliders sometime in the near future.
In any event, I found the Artisan Cheese Center website to be interesting and useful. I enjoyed the video but watch it for yourself and come to your own conclusions and opinions. Feel free to click on the comments below to share.

Explain one reason why you wouldn’t try a stuffed cheeseburger slider. I mean, really? May be pub food, but it doesn’t get much better than that.
