New Belgium Beer and Food Pairing Event at Hopmonk

Jeremy from New Belgium Brewing Company sent me an email letting me know that he’s set up a beer and food pairing event feature the beers of New Belgium with the cuisine of Hopmonk. Here are the details:

Where: Hopmonk, 230 Petaluma Avenue, Sebastopol, CA, 95472
When: August 26, 2008
Time: 6:30pm
Cost: $40

Menu: I asked Jeremy to send me the menu but as of this post, I haven’t received it yet. I will post it up as soon as I get it, if still applicable.

I’m bummed that we won’t be able to make it. I haven seen Jeremy since Boonville and it would’ve been good to support him and New Belgium. Sebastopol is a bit too far of a drive for a Tuesday night, especially after work. We’re still recovering from our own Beer and Food Pairing Event.

Speaking of which, we just finished out “Let’s Get Lit: Beer, Food and Cigar” Pairing Event yesterday. The turnout wasn’t as much as we were expecting but that just meant more for everyone there. Putting on one of our events takes a lot of work, planning, coordination and cleaning. Lots of cleaning afterwards. As a result, I was too tired to blog about it but I will post the recap tonight along with any photos we may have.

There was a concert in the city last night of epic proportions which I expect might have drawn at least a portion of the crowd away from such an event. I myself was in attendence at the concert, but will be attending the pairing event tomorrow (and I live in Stockton!). So, I would chalk up the poor attendence to the all-night festival in the city.

Sadly enough, I didn’t take pictures (wasn’t sure my date was too jazzed about the idea). I wish I had taken a picture of the menu though.

I did want to say that the Eric’s New Belgium beer was fantastic. It tasted almost like a Duchesse on the initial entry, but finished in a tart lambic feel. It was a complex beer no doubt, but really stole the show as it was the last beer they tasted. Dean Biersch complimented us with a Duchesse afterward. It was a really enjoyable time.

There will actually a few more Tuesday night beer and food pairings at Hopmonk. I’m looking forward to Lagunitas ;).
