I know I might be a little late in “reporting” this but beer writer, blogger and former Oakland Tribute columnist William “Bill” Brand is in critical condition after a SF Muni accident. I don’t know too much other than what is on this article and from what people have texted me. Apparently he was hit by a Muni train on the way home from 21st Amendment’s Dinner with the Homebrew Chef SF Beer Week Event.
Bill’s blog was something I could always count on to have the latest and relevant Bay Area beer news. It is very shocking and sad to hear of this accident as Bill has always been a responsible drinker opting to take public transporation to as many beer events instead of driving. I have often seen him at many of the numerous beer events that happen in the Bay Area and my only regret was not introducing myself and saying, “hello”. You always figure that there’ll be another day, another event, another opportunity to do what you want and then something like this happens.
At 7pm today, there will be a Bay Area wide toast to Bill’s speedy recovery. Join us at that time and raise your glass of beer in Bill’s name and wish for the best.

Very well put — “You always figure that there’ll be another day, another event, another opportunity to do what you want and then something like this happens.” — This can be said about a lot of things we pass by in life, can’t it? Thanks for reminding me, probably a lot of us, to savor and grab each moment.
I was going to invite him to join us for a beer Friday night. I also thought, another day, another time.
