Arne Johnson from Marin Brewing presented his Starbrew Wheat Wine at one of our dinners. He's the only brewer to date to speak at one of our dinners in Cupertino, although we'd love to have others. Thanks for the kind words in your post. It was a pleasure meeting you and your wife. I hope to see you at other events. In future dinners, please let us know if you'd like to try combinations from other pairings i.e. the Gulden Draak and the pizookie. We usually have left overs from previous pours.

Last time I was at La Trappe in SF I ordered a Popperings Hommel only to watch the keg blow nothing but foam. From what I've heard, it's more of a single IPA, while Houblon Chouffe is getting into the double territory. I'm interested to try the Popperings even more now.

Interesting comparing my notes from the evening from what you wrote. Actually, there are plenty beer and food pairing dinners that are not very affordable on a "recession" budget, so kudo's to BJ's for providing one. For a big corporate type chain restaurant, BJ's seems to be doing a good job bringing craft beer to the masses. Interesting.

PS - Unless you are paid in advance to meet a certain deadline, you really aren't under any obligation to post about an event by a certain time. I'm willing to wait a few extra days for a good write up, rather than one dashed off by a buzzed writer desperate to get some sleep or otherwise get on with his life!
