Two south bay brewpubs are releasing new beers this week. Just in time for spring, Gordon Biersch is having a tapping party tonight for the release of their new Maibock. On Thursday Rock Bottom in Campbell is having a tapping party for their upcoming “Naughty Scot” Wee Heavy.
Health permitting, I’ll be at GB (San Jose) tonight for the maibock tapping and I’m going to try to make it to Rock Bottom on Thursday for the Scotch Ale. Here are the details for both:
Who: Gordon Biersch (San Jose)
What: Maibock Tapping Party
Where: Gordon Biersch San Jose Brew pub (should be at all the GB locations though), 33 East San Fernando St. San Jose, CA map
When: Tuesday, April 6, 2010 @ 6pm – 8pm
Why: Because drinking fresh beer is always better with company
Notes: GB tents their patio during winter but I’ve heard it’s down now so dress appropriately. If you’ve never been to these events before, show up, submit your email and receive a ticket you can redeem for a free pour. If you’re a GB Passport member, you get 2 tickets. Free appetizers also get carted around and music will be provided by Jazz Unlimited. The GB brewers should be pouring so make sure to let them know how you feel about their beer.

What: “Naughty Scot” Wee Heavy Tapping Party
Where: Rock Bottom, 1875 South Bascom Avenue Campbell, CA 95008 map
When: Thursday, April 8, 2010 @ 6pm – 7pm
Why: Because Taylor Swift says “Two is better than one” and a second tapping party is awesome.
Notes: Because of the time, I always seem to miss these but my schedule’s been a bit more friendly lately and I should be able to make this one.
