Homebrew Competition Alert: World Cup of Beer

World Cup 18 LogoThe World Cup of Beer Homebrew Competition is one of the few large local competitions where winning a ribbon earns you bragging rights. In past years, the number of entries have regularly exceeded 600 many of which come from some of the best homebrewers in the Bay Area and beyond.

This is the 18th year for World Cup and the Bay Area Mashers do a wonderful job organizing and running the comp. There is plenty of schwag for winners and the Awards Ceremony is second to none with food and entertainment.

Key Dates:

Entry Opens: March 2, 2012
Entry Deadline: March 24, 2012
Prelim Judging: April 7, 2012 at Linden St Brewery
Finals Judging: April 14, 2012 at Linden St Brewery

Homebrewer gone rabid: 50 all grain batches (in first year of brewing), 3 fermentation freezers, 1 bottle fridge, 8 Ranco controllers, 16 carboys, 20 airlocks, 6 Erlenmeyer flasks, 2 stir plates, 20+ ribbons (including NHC West 1st place for American Ale two years running), Certified Beer Judge, way too much beer and lots of mistakes. Learn to brew and brew to learn, but if it ain't good, dump it!
