Received word not too long ago of an upcoming beer and food pairing dinner at the Duck Club, located in the Lafayette Park Hotel. If the name of the restaurant sounds familiar, it's because I've reviewed several of the beer dinners they've hosted, the most recent being the Beer vs. Wine dinner featuring Stone Brewing Company. In a similar vein, this upcoming dinner will feature the craft beers of Belgium against the craft beers of America.

Beer: Red Barn Ale, Saison (Lost Abbey)
Food: Hors D'oeuvres
First Course
Beer: Affligem Blond (Brouwerij Affligem) vs. Monkshine Blonde Ale (Uinta Brewing Company)
Food: Seafood Trio – Oysters, scallops and mussels.
Second Course
Beer: Tripel Karmeliet (Brouwerij Bosteels) vs. Allagash Tripel (Allagash Brewing Company)
Food: Cassoulet D'Avalos – Hearty cassorole of duck confit, sausages and beans.
Third Course
Beer: St. Martin Brune Dubbel (Brasserie Brunehaut) vs. Brother Thelonious Abbey Ale (North Coast Brewing)
Food: Ale braised short ribs, herbed spaetzle, braised cabbage with apples.
Fourth Course
Beer: Buffalo Stout (Brouwerij van den Bossche) vs. Allagash Stout (Allagash Brewing Company)
Food: Housemade walnut fudge with malt glaze and sea salt.
Notes
From what I understand, there will be a representative on hand to emcee the event as well as talk about each of the beers. It should be an interesting event prior to SF Beer Week to get you in the mood for the craft beer onslaught that will be taking hold in early February.
Not 100% sure if we'll be able to attend this one, but if you do happen to go, I'd love to hear your thoughts about how the event went down.
